ESET Virus Signature Database Update 5358 may cause system slow-down issues

ESET is investigating a report of slow system usage on 64-bit database servers after Virus Signature Database Update 5358, released on August 11, 2010. While investigating the report, users were rolled back to an older module to bypass the issue. Virus Signature Database Update 5359 has been released to resolve this issue.

To learn how to update the Virus Signature Database of your ESET security product . After you have updated, verify that the Version of virus signature database reads 5359 (20100811).

Which phones are compatible with ESET Mobile Antivirus?

ESET Mobile Antivirus is compatible with Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system versions 5.0, 6.0, and 6.1. Most devices that support these operating system versions will work with ESET Mobile Antivirus.

However, mobile devices supported by ESET Mobile Antivirus in unlocked default factory configuration may have compatibility issues when preloaded with software, reconfigured, or SIM-locked by specific mobile service providers.

How do I uninstall ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus? (4.0)

Due to corrupted installations or newer program releases, reinstalling your ESET security product is sometimes necessary.

Uninstall

Click Start ? All Programs ? ESET ? Uninstall. After you uninstall, you will need to restart your computer.

Warning: Do not attempt to uninstall your ESET security product using the Windows Add or Remove Programs utility from the Control Panel.

After restarting, confirm that you can see hidden files and folders by clicking Start ? Control Panel ? Folder Options ? View and select the Show hidden files and folders option.

Click Start ? My Computer and then navigate to and delete the following folders:

C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\ESET

Windows Vista and Windows 7 Users must delete the following folders:

C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\Program Data\ESET

NOTE: The uninstaller may remove the above folders automatically. If you are unable to find the folders after selecting Show hidden files and folders, the removal is complete.
